Even as the family of Chiranjeevi is enjoying the successful entry of Ram Charan into films, a bolt from the blue hit them. His younger daughter Srija married her long-time boyfriend Sirish Bharadwaj, a software engineer. Sirish is the friend of former Congress Legislature Party leader P Janardhan Reddy’s son, belonged to Begumpet in Hyderabad and had a longstanding friendship of Srija.
Both of them married at Arya Samaj Ashram at New Bowenpally(or Boinpally). The news came as a rude shock for the family of Chiranjeevi, who were not aware of Srija’s friendship with Bharadwaj. They resorted to the sudden marriage without the knowledge of their parents. Bharadwaj is a Brahmin boy and theirs was a middle-class family. Without showing any signs of tension, Srija spoke to the journos, who met her at Arya Samaj. She says, ‘I am in love with Bharadwaj for the past four years.
I love my dad too. I know that my father would approve my love and marriage. We first thought of getting married legally through registered marriage. However, we learnt that marrying at Arya Samaj too would be legal and hence we took this decision.’ Close friends of both the bride and bridegroom attended the marriage function which was video graphed formally. The girl told the journalists that she and her hubby would meet her father in the evening and seek his blessings.
The news spread like wildfire as a private television channel telecast the marriage live. More details are awaited. However, the newly-wed also sought protection from police and also sought support from the media. It may be mentioned here that the marriage of Chiranjeevi’s eldest daughter was also caught in shambles once, as she was betrothed first to Udaykiran. However, both families formally cancelled the betrothal citing family problems.
